Elizabeth QUESTIONS:
(Add questions here as they come to your mind and we will try to address them all during the call.  Also feel free to look over the questions and answers from the last global call, below, some of your questions may be answered there too.)
  • Is it possible for the team nominated for the Global People's Choice award to also be nominated for one of the other five categories? (ie, in case the local judges have voted for the same team as the public).  Answer:  yes.
Pedro R
  • What happens if a team is has participants from two ore more locations. Is it judged at both places and can it be nominated at both, or does it need to be based from a single location (ie, the project is registered at a single location)?  Answer:  Participants have to choose their site to submit it to.
Martijn L
  • Can the video from Vimeo be downloaded in advance instead of streaming to avoid possible connection problems
Nate P
  • If a separate download is not made available, youtube-dl is a command-line tool that works for Vimeo as well.

John S Question:  Hi, My intention is to create either an app or a mobile website using
pictures of the universe rather than those of earth and using other
information rather than changes in the last 2 years. I created under
spaceapps as it was the most similar to what I want to do (picture is
worth more than thousand words) . My question is : Will my project be takeninto account for qualification even if it is not related to changes of
earth in the last 2 years?
Answer:  Thanks for sending us your question; here is the response. You ar more than welcome to work on the project you’ve created but we created 5 themes this year and challenges to work within each theme. If you could include Earth within the project then I think you will be okay, if not, then it doesn’t fall within the project parameters. Please let me know if this helps.

John S Question: Can you send us some apis that could help us to get information about other planets?
we need it for our project.
Answer:  Thanks for sending us your question; here is the response. I have cc’ed the challenge creator on this question in case he has anything to add but basic info on the other planets are located on several sites like https://pds.jpl.nasa.gov/planets/special/planets.htm and http://marsweather.ingenology.com/  I hope this is helpful.

John S Questions: I have reviewed the link you sent me earlier https://landsat.usgs.gov/consumer.php, but so far I still do not find any api to help me access the information you desire either pictures and information, please i need the information about the API

Answer:  If you are looking for imagery for the whereonearth application, earth observatory is a good place to start. But there is no one particular database we can point you to. You can download landsat or MODIS imagery from USGS earth explorer or GLOVIS manually to the places you would like to include.
I hope this answers your question.Kindly let me know if in any other way I can assist you.

John S Question:  Good evening I'm currently participating in the space apps challenge, specifically the one stop shop and my development group seemed to have hit a roadblock as we are having difficulty going through all of the data found on the provided websites. I was wondering if by any chance you could be able to provide us with a some kind of database copy with this information? If not, would it be acceptable for us to populate the page with dummy data? Thank you for your time.

Answer:  Thanks for sending us your question; here is the response. Unless we hear back differently from the challenge creator, who I carbon copied, please use dummy data to show how your solution will work.  You could also try an internet search to see if you can find the data some other way.
By the way, we are posting your question and the response on this challenge’s hackpad so other parties can benefit. Please refer to the hackpad so you can see what other people are doing with this challenge too.
Good luck and we hope to see useful and collaborative projects developed to address the Small Business One Stop Challenge.
